Your faith might be doing work in someone else’s life right now, even if they can barely believe for themselves. We sit with one overlooked line from Mark 2:5 where Jesus looks at a paralyzed man and responds to the faith of the friends who carried him. That single sentence challenges the “me and my spirituality” mindset and replaces it with a rugged, practical picture of Christian brotherhood, prayer, and action that costs something.

We talk through why the text says “their faith,” not “his faith,” and what that means for men who lead at home and in everyday life. Setting Up Mark Chapter Two

Welcome back to Everyday Carry. I'm your host, Brian Crumb. So yesterday, four men tore a hole in a roof to lower their friend in front of Jesus. If you missed it, go back and catch that one first. Uh it starts out in Mark chapter 2, and we're gonna continue

The Overlooked Line About Faith

there. We're actually just camping out on one verse today, and that's Mark 2, verse 5. I think it might actually be the most overlooked sentence in the entire story. And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, Son, your sins are forgiven. Wait a second. Read that again. Whose faith? He didn't say because of your faith. No, he saw their faith. The text doesn't say he saw the guy's faith. It was the faith of his friends, the four men that were carrying him in. The guy gets healed and forgiven off the strength of faith that wasn't even his own.

How A Man’s Faith Helps Others

You catch that? I mean, that ought to stop any of us cold. Like if you're a father, if you're a husband, a friend, if you're a leader of any kind, scripture's showing us here that faith carries weight beyond just the man who holds it. Your faith, lived out, acted on, dragged up onto a roof, and torn through. Your faith can move something in another man's life that his own faith, whether it's weak or absent, or just a struggle, it can't move it on its own.

Pushing Back On Private Faith

So this cuts against a pretty individualistic idea a lot of us carry around, right? Faith's a private matter. Everyone's got to find his own way to God and his own timeline, and it's not really our place to push. Well, Mark 2, verse 5 says otherwise. Those four men didn't wait for their friend to have enough faith to ask for help. They carried him on theirs. There's real weight in that, right? Your f your your prayers, your faith, your prayers for your son who's walked away from church, your persistence with a friend who won't answer your calls. Maybe it's your example in front of a wife who's watching to see if your faith is real when things get hard. None of that is wasted. It might be the very thing carrying someone else toward the moment they meet Jesus for themselves.

Today’s Charge Pray And Act

So, here's the charge for today. So here's the carry, right? Think of someone who's being carried right now by faith that isn't fully their own. Maybe it's by you, maybe it's by somebody else you know. Pray for that person by name, and then go do one tangible thing today that helps keep carrying them.
