This week, we slow down and build a foundation a lot of us never received: what the church is supposed to be, according to Scripture, not preference. We're kicking off week three of Every Day Carry by explaining why men struggle to stand firm when the church around them is built on shaky priorities. If you’ve ever felt like church is more about programs, personalities, or polish than spiritual strength, this offers a clearer framework.

We camp in Acts 2 right after Pentecost, where Luke gives a snapshot of the first believers and what they persist in. Four marks rise to the surface as a simple test for church health: the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, the breaking of bread, and the prayers. We dig into what “devoted” really means, why teaching comes first, and how sound doctrine creates the kind of community many men try to chase and never quite find. We also highlight a line we often skip: “the Lord added” to their number, a reminder that God owns growth while the church owns faithfulness.

Then we confront a common trap: using Acts 2 to argue for a style, whether that’s small and casual or loud and intense. The point isn’t the building, the music, or the vibe. The point is the diet. You’ll leave with a practical action step: write the four marks down and tell the truth about whether your church actually practices them or just talks about them.
