Another week is down, brother. All week long, we have been learning to test. Today, we answer the question you've been carrying since Monday. What do I actually do about what I found? So I'm gonna give you two verses and then three honest outcomes. Okay?

Guarding The Deposit Of Faith

2 Timothy 1, verse 13 and 14. Follow the pattern of the sound words that you have heard from me. Guard the good deposit entrusted to you by the Holy Spirit who dwells within us. That word deposit is actually parotheke. It's a banking term and it means money or valuables left with a trusted friend for safekeeping while the owner is away. And the whole obligation of that, the whole reason for that deposit, it isn't yours to spend, improve, or edit. It's yours to return intact. That's what the faith is. You didn't write it, you're holding it. And catch how Paul says to guard it by the Holy Spirit who dwells within us. Not by being the smartest man in the room, not by having a seminary degree. The guarding is a spirit-empowered job given to ordinary men like you and me. Jude says the same thing to a whole congregation. In Jude 3, he actually says, contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints. The word there in the Greek actually means the same thing, it's where we get our word agonize from. Strain for it. And once for all delivered means the content is closed. It's like Latin. It's a dead language, right? Nobody's adding to it, no one's taken away from it. Well, you shouldn't. Both writers hand the guarding to regular men, brother. Not to an hierarchy. To you. So

Three Outcomes After You Test

what do you do with it? Three outcomes, and I'm giving him an order of how often they apply. So, number one. Most men should stay and strengthen. Hear me on this. Imperfect preaching is not apostasy. Shallow is not the same as false. A church that's thin but honest, or tired but faithful, doesn't need a man to leave, it needs a man in the word who serves, provokes, and prays. If your findings this week were we're weak here, well then that's a call to labor, not exit. Go to the elders privately, humbly, with the text open and one issue in hand. Not a list. And go as a man who

Stay And Strengthen The Church

carries work there. Because a critic who serves nowhere gets ignored. And honestly, he should be. Okay? That's the first one. Number two, some men need to ask hard questions and wait. You see, if something is genuinely wrong and you're not sure how deep, ask. Then give the leaders room to answer and watch how they respond to being asked. You see, a humble man says, let me look at that with you. A man with something to protect makes you the problem for asking. Their posture is gonna tell you more than their answer ever could. Number three, a few men need to leave and leave rightly. Here's where it hits the road for us. If the gospel itself is gone, if there's no sin being named, no repentance being called to, sure you're talking about the cross, but is it really being shown as the ultimate payment? If there's no lordship being driven here, where if sin among the leadership is being covered instead of confronted, a man leaves. That's Galatians 1. That's not me, that's Galatians 1, guys. But he leaves without a campaign.

Ask Hard Questions Then Wait

You see, he doesn't take six families with him, he doesn't burn it down on his way out, he doesn't post about it, he goes and joins another church that is those other things. Because walking out of one church and into no church isn't obedience, it's just a different kind of drifting. Now, the part I have to say here, because I know I said it on Monday, check me too. Because everything I've handed you this week and last week, test the teaching, know the qualifications, watch the money, look for fruit. All of it, I want you to apply it to this show. I'm not your pastor. I don't know your name, and I can't sit with you. I can't bury your father because that's just not my role. This podcast is five minutes. When Leaving Is The Right Call
